I'm a native Kansan, growing up in Tonganoxie, Kansas. I haven't ventured very far from home in my lifetime, as I attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, and now live on a farm between Basehor and Tonganoxie. I love to travel and have been to some really fun, exotic places, but home truly is where my heart is. I love being able to live on a farm, but be within no more than an hour's drive away from just about any cultural enrichment activity you can imagine in Kansas City, Lawrence, or Topeka. I have a great husband, Joe, and a wonderful son, John. John works as a chemical engineer in San Leandro, CA, although he may soon be moving with his job to Frankfort, Germany. Joe, like me, is currently retired, after working many years as a registered sanitarian with our county's health department. He ended his career with a venture into politics, serving as a county commissioner. I taught seventh graders the joys of Literature and English for 29 of 32 years, and taught third graders my first 3 years. I loved teaching, but am now able to pursue many of my interests beyond the world of education. Teachers love to learn as much as they love to teach!
